The Mexican, Cuban, and Nicaraguan revolutions had lasting impacts that changed the way Latin American and global politics operated, challenging ideas about freedom, nationalism, and equality. Each of these revolutions, also created a new generation of women who had assisted or fought in these revolutions. These women had different goals, different positions, and once the revolutions ended they faced different outcomes. Using primary sources from both outside and within the United States, this project will analyze the role of women in these three pivotal Latin American revolutions and the subsequent consequences for women and gender equality in their post-revolutionary societies.
