My distinction project plan is to do the research for, write, and work towards the publication of a collection of historical fiction short stories, set in various cultures & periods of history when women were granted more power and respect than in traditional patriarchal societies. Each of the stories will center on a female character living in one of these societies and time in history. Through my research, I hope to increase my knowledge of historical cultures that are not well known or frequently discussed. The purpose of the completed collection of stories will be to offer a feminist perspective on certain periods of history by shedding light on times and places when women did not have to fight for respect or equal treatment, because in many ways it was already granted to them.
